1. Advanced Dives Inside the National Marine Park

These are structured two-dive outings for certified divers whose training, recent experience, and comfort match the selected site. Shared and private prices are published below.

2. Custom Offshore Adventure Expeditions

These are individually planned operations outside the standard park itinerary. They may require longer navigation, additional cylinders, specialized configurations, more support personnel, extended boat time, technical or overhead-environment training, and a site-specific gas and emergency plan. Prices are prepared only after direct consultation.

Wrecks, Drifts, Reefs, and Complex Topography

A National Marine Park adventure outing may focus on wreck diving, deeper reef profiles, drift diving, tunnels, caves, or exposed reef structures. The objective is chosen according to the divers and the actual conditions, rather than selecting a famous name without considering the group.

Conditions may be dynamic. Some sites can involve strong current, faster descents, greater depth, blue-water entries, negative entries, limited reference points, or increased task loading. Every dive is planned and briefed according to the specific site and group.

Wildlife may include turtles, rays, barracudas, lobsters, reef fish, and passing pelagic animals. Seasonal encounters can occur, but marine life and visibility are natural variables and cannot be guaranteed.

National Marine Park Adventure Dive Details

Why the Company Is Called Adventure Tours

Adventure Tours Isla Mujeres was not named after a marketing slogan. The name grew from years spent exploring waters that were rarely included on the conventional dive maps used around the island.

Long before many offshore locations were discussed by divers, local fishermen had already navigated those waters for generations. Their knowledge came from current, weather, bottom structure, fishing grounds, landmarks, and experience accumulated at sea.

Over the years, that knowledge became the starting point for exploration. Routes were tested, sites were located, navigation references were organized, and practical dive plans were developed. The result was not a list copied from another dive operation, but an expanding body of local routes built through direct exploration and the experience of people who knew the sea.

That history remains central to the company. Adventure Tours Isla Mujeres offers familiar recreational services, but its identity comes from going farther, planning carefully, and creating access to environments that very few conventional dive operations visit. Custom Offshore Adventure Expeditions

Beyond the National Marine Park lies another level of diving: exposed offshore reefs, walls, caverns, wrecks, isolated structures, freshwater formations below the sea, open-ocean sites, and routes that remain unknown to most visiting divers.

These are not regular two-dive tours. Each operation is designed around the selected objective, distance, expected conditions, diver qualifications, recent experience, gas consumption, equipment configuration, number of participants, support team, boat requirements, surface support, and contingency planning.

Ojo de Agua: Fresh Water Beneath the Caribbean

Known locally as Ojo de Agua, this is one of the most unusual offshore environments associated with Isla Mujeres. Fresh water emerges beneath the sea through a submerged geological formation, creating a visible connection between the peninsula’s underground water system and the Caribbean.

The entrance is located at approximately 100 ft / 30 m. Beyond it is a restriction leading into an overhead environment. This is not presented as a casual recreational attraction. Any objective involving entry beyond the open-water area requires the appropriate technical or cave training, suitable equipment, disciplined gas planning, redundancy, and a separately approved expedition plan.

Depending on the objective and diver qualifications, doubles or sidemount may be considered. Equipment configuration is determined only after reviewing the complete team, route, gas requirements, boat support, and conditions.

Arrowsmith: The Offshore Frontier

Arrowsmith is not a routine extension of an Isla Mujeres dive day. It is a large offshore submarine plateau located far east of the island, in open water where navigation, weather, current, sea state, vessel endurance, support, and contingency planning become central parts of the operation.

For Adventure Tours Isla Mujeres, Arrowsmith represents the far end of the expedition spectrum: a remote objective that must be approached through preparation rather than enthusiasm alone. The appropriate dive plan depends entirely on the selected area, the team’s training and experience, the expected profile, available gases, equipment, support personnel, and conditions.

An Arrowsmith request begins with a direct technical and logistical consultation. It is never confirmed as a standard tour and no departure is guaranteed until the complete operation has been evaluated.

How an Offshore Expedition Is Planned

Every request begins with the divers, not with a price list. Before proposing a site or configuration, the team reviews:

• Certification level and relevant specialties.
• Technical, wreck, cavern, cave, decompression, or sidemount qualifications when applicable.
• Number of logged dives and recent diving activity.
• Previous experience in current, blue water, depth, wrecks, overhead environments, or open ocean.
• Personal gas consumption and planned breathing gases.
• Backmount single, doubles, sidemount, stage, or decompression-cylinder requirements.
• Personal and rental equipment requirements.
• Expedition objective and acceptable alternatives.
• Distance, navigation, fuel, boat time, and surface support.
• Number of dive professionals and support personnel required.
• Weather, current, visibility, sea state, permits, and protected-area restrictions.
• Emergency, lost-diver, gas-sharing, surface, and evacuation considerations.

The final plan may be simpler or substantially more complex depending on the objective. No equipment configuration, gas, depth, penetration, or decompression profile is implied merely because a site name appears on this page.

Offshore Expedition Pricing

Offshore expedition prices are not published because no two operations are identical. The final cost depends on the selected objective, distance, vessel and fuel requirements, duration, number of divers, professional and surface-support personnel, cylinders, breathing gases, equipment configuration, logistics, and any additional safety or transportation requirements.

Specialized cylinders, gases, technical configurations, additional personnel, and expedition equipment are not automatically included in the published National Marine Park prices.

What to Provide and Bring

Bring your valid certification card, biodegradable sunscreen, towel, sunglasses, and a hat. Seasickness medication is recommended for divers sensitive to motion.

Before confirmation, provide your certification level, relevant specialties, number of logged dives, date and type of your most recent dives, experience in current and depth, equipment sizes, gas consumption when known, preferred configuration, and any medical or logistical information relevant to safe participation.

Hotel Pickup and Transportation

Marine pickup may be possible from hotels, residences, marinas, or piers with authorized dock access that can safely accommodate the vessel. Boarding directly from the beach is not available.

Docking fees, when applicable, are not included. If the property does not have a suitable dock, private ground transportation to the assigned marina can be coordinated. Final logistics and additional costs depend on location, access, group size, schedule, equipment, and expedition requirements.

  • Yes, when appropriate to the site, objective, diver training, gas plan, boat configuration, and available equipment. A specific configuration is never assigned without reviewing the complete expedition plan.
• Is Ojo de Agua an open-water recreational dive?
  • Not necessarily. Ojo de Agua includes a freshwater formation below the sea, with an entrance at approximately 100 ft / 30 m and a restriction leading beyond it. Any overhead or restricted-area objective requires appropriate training, equipment, gas planning, and a separately approved expedition plan.
• Is Arrowsmith available as a normal day trip?
  • No. Arrowsmith is a remote offshore objective requiring a full review of navigation, vessel endurance, weather, current, sea state, support, diver profiles, equipment, gases, and contingency planning.
• Is a particular site guaranteed?
  • No. Every site remains subject to certification, recent experience, diver readiness, weather, current, sea state, visibility, access, permits or protected-area rules, and the final judgment of the captain and dive leader.
• How many dives are included in the park service?
  • The published National Marine Park adventure service is planned as a two-dive outing. Offshore expeditions follow a separate plan developed for the selected objective.
• Can hotel pickup be arranged?
  • Marine pickup may be possible from authorized docks that safely accommodate the vessel. Boarding directly from the beach is not available. Private ground transportation to the assigned marina can be coordinated when required.
• Do you rent cameras?
  • GoPro cameras are available for rent for MXN $800, subject to availability and suitability for the planned dive.
