Beginner Discovery Scuba Diving

Isla Mujeres is the perfect place for beginners to do scuba diving, with the warm waters, excellent visibility, shallow reefs and plentiful sea life, you can enjoy one of the best experiences in a lifetime at the isla mujeres marine park.

You may not have been diving before, but don't worry! We have you covered with the PADI, SSI and SDI Explore Scuba Diving Course. The course is a one-day curriculum designed to expose you to the underwater world. You will be briefed on the equipment and basic procedures.

In shallow water, your Instructor will begin by teaching you a few important skills. If you master those abilities and feel relaxed, assisted by your Instructor, you can then do your first dive.

Manchones Reef

There are a multitude of different and easy dive sites around Isla mujeres; and they are all only a few minutes from the island. You will visit Manchones reef located within the National Marine Park, where you can see a wide array of marine life, from turtles, sting rays, lobsters to groupers, barracudas, snapper schools, and many more marine animals.

The underwater museum of art MUSA

The Manchones Reef also houses the world-renowned Musa Underwater Museum, a series of over 300 human-sized sculptures designed to preserve the reef and foster coral growth. Today, for many animals, the museum offers security and is a sign of environmental consciousness.

Diving certification

This is NOT a certification course, it is an introductory program which allows you to experience scuba diving. You will need to sign up for a certification course if you enjoy this experience and are interested in becoming a certified PADI or SDI diver, please feel free to contact us to get more information about the certifications.

Biodegradable sunscreen, towel, sun glasses, hat. If you are prone to being seasick, please take medication to help ease your susceptibility to motion.

FAQ

  • How long is the ride out to the dive site?
    • The ride to the reef is about 30 minutes after departure from the ferry pier on our boats.
  • Can we arrange a pickup from your hotel by boat for the Try Scuba Tour?
    • Yes, we can pick you up or drop you off at any pier that will safely accommodate our boat. Be aware that not all piers are free. You will be responsible for any docking fees charged at the pier you choose if there are any.
  • Do you rent cameras?
    • Yes, we have Go Pros for rent for MXN$800. We upload your photos and videos to our cloud for you to access and download later.
  • How deep are the dive sites?
    • The local reef in which you will do your dives is a shallow calm reef with maximum depths of 33ft/10m.
